Stark County Beekeepers Association 4-H Scholarship 2025

Important Dates/Requirements -Please read carefully.
1. Application Due Date: Friday, January 10, 2025
2. Announcement Date: Monday, January 13, 2025
3. Scholarship recipient MUST attend a beginning beekeeping class.
4. The SCBA Bee School, a beginning beekeeping class, will be held Saturday, January 18, 2025 at Stark Parks Exploration Gateway. The scholarship recipient and an accompanying adult may attend free of charge. (Note that this date is close to the announcement date.)
2025 Stark County Beekeepers Association 4-H Scholarship
The Stark County Beekeepers Association (SCBA) wishes to foster competence in youth who are interested in beekeeping. Because we believe that the 4-H program allows a new beekeeper to gain knowledge, experience, and confidence using a hands-on approach, we are offering a scholarship to a 4-H youth who is interested in taking “641 Beekeeping Project and Record Book” as a first-time project. SCBA will provide financial resources to help the youth purchase honey bees and/or some beekeeping equipment but the applicant should be aware that the funds will only partially cover the initial set-up costs. In 2025, SCBA is offering a scholarship in the amount of $300 (to be reimbursed when requirements are met) to a 4-H youth who meets the criteria put forth in this application.
Scholarship Criteria The scholarship consideration is limited to 4-H youth who meet the following criteria:
Age: 12 to 18 years as of Jan. 1 of the awarding year 4-H membership: A member in good standing of a Stark County 4-H club Minimum years in 4-H: 1 year prior to January 2025 General education: Current enrollment in a private/public school system, or is home-schooled Known allergy to insect stings: Disqualification from the scholarship because of liability
Application Submission and Award Due date: Friday, January 10, 2025

Award Date: The scholarship recipient will be notified on or before Monday, January 13, 2025.
Application Checklist The following documents must be submitted to the SCBA 4-H Coordinator.
1. SCBA 4-H scholarship application 2. SCBA 4-H scholarship questionnaire (Applicant and Parent - 2 pages) 3. SCBA 4-H scholarship terms and conditions, signed and dated by applicant and parent/guardian 4. SCBA 4-H scholarship waiver/binder consent, signed and dated by applicant (1 place) and parent/guardian (2 places) 5. Typed letter of recommendation from applicant’s 4-H Club advisor
