  1. "Clean Sweep" - for farmers to dispose of unwanted pesticides

    The Ohio Department of Agriculture will be sponsoring a collection for farmers wishing to dispose of unwanted pesticides on September 24 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Kidron Livestock Auction (behind the barns), 4885 Kidron Rd., Apple Creek, Ohio 44606. 

    The pesticide collection and disposal service are free of charge, but only farm chemicals will be accepted.  Paint, antifreeze, solvents, and household or non-farm pesticides will not be accepted.

  8. Join Master Gardener Volunteers for Garden Java Conversations

    MASSILLON, Ohio- Make plans to join OSU Extension Stark County Master Gardener Volunteers this Thursday, August 1 from 10am-11am for Garden JAVA at the Stark County Master Gardener Volunteer Pollinator & Phenology Stewarship Garden located at the OSU Extension Stark County office (2800 Richville Dr. SE, Massillon, OH).  The program topic will be: Pollinators, Plants and Phenology.  Guests are asked to please bring a lawn chair for seating as our program will be held outside (weather permitting). Refreshments will be provided.

    Transition the Farm Business to the Next Generation

    Passing the farm business on to the next generation is not automatic.  Failure to plan is a plan for failure.  Successful farm transition requires preparation and planning.  It takes time, effort, communication between family members and legal assistance.  The Wayne County Extension office is offering a two-part farm transition workshop on Friday July 19 and Friday July 26 to help farm families with the farm transition process.
